The US Army and the Bangladesh Coast Guard on Monday launched Exercise Guardian Shark in Chattogram.
The exercise runs through November 25 and focuses on swift water rescue and medical training, said acting U.S. Mission Spokesperson Mara Bird.
It intends to improve both forces' readiness and build a shared approach to planning and carrying out emergency and crisis responses.
Bird said participants will share best practices and work through realistic scenarios to improve their ability to save lives during floods, cyclones, and other emergencies.
Exercise Guardian Shark shows the US commitment to working with Bangladesh on shared security concerns in the region, said the US official.
Through exercises like this one, Bird said the two countries deepen their cooperation and their shared commitment to a free, open, secure, and prosperous region.
