Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday asked the authorities concerned to speed up the construction work on the extension of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
She also asked them to carry out work keeping the future need in mind, said a press release of the PMO Press Wing.
The PM directed the authorities to take necessary measures for acquisition land for expanding Chattogram airport.

Hasina issued the directives after witnessing a presentation on progress of work (1st phase) (1st revised) of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's extension at her official residence Ganobhaban here in the morning.
The overall progress of the airport’s extension work has been 32 per cent. It is hoped that the work will be completed by November 2023, said the release.
The prime minister also stressed the need for increasing income of the Biman Bangladesh airlines, the national flag carrier.
She instructed for arrangement of training programmes for the people concerned to enhance the airport’s security services.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, PMO Senior Secretary Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mokammel Hossain and Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Mafidur Rahman, among others were present.
