The Agriculture Ministry has rescheduled the demand for chemical fertiliser for the 2020-21 fiscal year for more intensive and expanded cultivation.
According to the ministry, an additional 100,000 metric tonnes of urea and 100,000MT of DAP fertiliser will be procured on an emergency basis through open competition.
The additional urea fertiliser will be procured by Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and the Agriculture Ministry will procure DAP fertiliser.

Earlier, in the current fiscal year 2020-21, the demand for chemical fertilisers was fixed at 2,45,000MT urea and 13,00,000MT DAP. It has been increased to 25,50,000MT urea and 14,00,000MT DAP.
