A fire that broke out at Saddam Market in the Kadamtali area of the capital on Thursday evening was brought under control after efforts by five units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).
According to FSCD Headquarters Media Cell Deputy Assistant Director Shahjahan Sikder, the fire incident was reported at 6:24pm.
Firefighters rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the information, with the first unit reaching the spot at 6:43pm.

Initially, four fire service units worked to contain the blaze, while later a total of five units joined the operation.
The fire was brought under control at 9:05pm, he said.
The extent of damage and the cause of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.
