Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Wednesday recovered seven foreign pistols, 13 magazines and 293 rounds of bullets from two separate raids in Chakpara and Sonamasjid areas in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
A woman was arrested during the raid. The arrestee was identified as Rumi Begum, daughter of Humayun Kabir of Paschim Chandipur village in Shibganj upazila, said 59 BGB Battalion Commander LT Col Golam Kibria.

Based on intelligence, a team of BGB’s Rahanpur Battalion (59 BGB) led by Deputy Commander Major SM Imrul Kayes conducted a search operation in the Koylabari BGB Vehicle Scanner Check Post area on the border.
During the drive, a foreign-made pistol, a magazine and six rounds of bullets were found in a polythene bag with CNG passenger Rumi Begum.
Tipped-off that a big consignment of arms would enter Bangladesh through the Chakpara border of Shibganj upazila, another team led by 59 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Golam Kibria took position at Unishbighi.

The BGB patrol team intercepted individuals crossing from India into Bangladesh at the zero line.
The group abandoned a sack and fled to India under the cover of darkness, according to Lt Col Golam Kibria.
Upon inspecting the sack, the BGB team found 6 foreign pistols, 12 magazines, 236 rounds of pistol bullets, 51 machine gun rounds of bullets, and 35 bottles of Phensedyl.
The arrestee was sent to jail through the court pending further legal procedures, in a case filed against her with Shibganj Police Station.
