Dhaka, Sept 10 (UNB) - The Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust Bill, 2018 was placed in Parliament on Monday to make the Bangladesh (Freedom Fighters) Welfare Trust Order, 1972 a more time-befitting one.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq placed the Bill and it was sent to the respective parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny. The committee was asked to submit its report within five working days.
As per the Bill, the Trustee Board hall consist of the following trustees: the Prime Minister, who shall also be its Chairman, the minister–in-charge of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry, four MPs (Freedom Fighters) to be nominated by the Prime Minister, Finance, Industries and Liberation War Affairs secretaries, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division and managing director of Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust.
The head office of the Trust will be situated in Dhaka and its branches can be set up anywhere across the country taking prior permission of the government.
The Trust will hold at least a meeting every year.
