The Faruk Hasan-led faction of Gana Odhikar Parishad placed a nine-point proposal to the Election Reform Commission including to elevate the parliamentary seats to 500 from the existing 300 seats.
A delegation led by member secretary of the Gana Adhikar Parishad Faruk Hasan presented the proposals to the head of the Election Reform Commission Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar on Monday.
Earlier, a meeting was held with the chief of the Election Reform Commission at the office of the commission at South Plaza of the Sangshad Bhaban.

The other members of the delegation are—Barrister Jisan Mahsin, Tarek Rahman, Arif Billah, Foysal Ahmed, Sajal Ahmed and Nannu Sarkar.
The other demands include—easing the registration process of the party and to increase the parliamentary seats of the Hill Tracts area, taking steps to make it easier for independent candidates to participate in elections with the 0.10% support requirement from the existing 1% support, ensuring the participation of expatriate voters, reservation of the balloting if used EVMs or automatic vote printing for subsequent legal procedures, amendment of the RPO to ensure the democratic practice among the political parties, taking steps to allocate reserved seats for women as per the election base, enacting laws for appointing Election Commissioner and making it mandatory to have no political affiliations and cancellation of the fake voters and those who dead from the voter list through proper way.
