The government on Tuesday issued a gazette notification regarding the reformed quota in government, semi-government, autonomous organizations’ recruitment prioritizing merit.

The notification was signed by Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, on Tuesday.
Ninety-three percent of the recruitment will be made on the basis of merit while five percent quota is for the sons and daughters of freedom fighters, it reads.

One percent quota is for ethnic minorities, while one percent quota is for candidates with disabilities and of third gender.
However, if the eligible candidates cannot be recruited from the designated quota, recruitment to the posts will be merit based.
Quota protestors announce nationwide shutdown tomorrow
All gazette notifications, orders and directives including circular of October 4, 2018 have been abolished.
The order will be effective immediately.
