A German tourist lost his belongings to a fraudster at Natore Railway Station after travelling by train from Santahar on Wednesday.
Kirill Lander-Weber visited several tourist attractions in Bogura before travelling to Santahar Railway Station.
From Santahar, Kirill boarded the Banglabandha Express, intending to travel to India through Darshana Railway Station. However, he got off at Natore Railway Station.
While waiting at the station, he met a young man in the waiting room. At one point, the man allegedly fled with Kirill’s bag, laptop and camera.
Left without his belongings, the tourist became distressed and was seen crying at the station.
Later, he went to Natore Sadar Police Station following the advice of railway staff to seek help.
Mansur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Natore Sadar Police Station, said the incident did not fall within their jurisdiction.
However, considering that the victim is a foreign tourist, police launched an effort to recover his belongings using information technology, he said.
