The overall number of global Covid cases is gradually nearing 622 million.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 621,828,240 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,545,364 on Thursday morning.
The US has recorded 98,104,113 cases so far and 1,083,798 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Wednesday increased to 3,615, officials said.
According to the federal health ministry data, 3,615 new cases of Covid were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,579,088 in the country.
The country also logged 22 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall toll to 528,584 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
With the reporting of fresh cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 40,979. The daily positivity rate stands at 1.12% and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.55%, the ministry data showed.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported 665 more Covid cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
The country's total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,360 as no deaths were reported during the period. With the new infections, the caseload rose to 2,023,810, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate declined to14.07% from Tuesday’s 15.42% as 4,728 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.45% while the recovery rate declined to 97.05%, the directorate said.
