Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said Gopalganj Police are expected to seek a court order on Sunday to exhume three of the four bodies for autopsy.
"Unfortunately, the body of one Hindu victim was cremated by his family, making an autopsy no longer possible," he told UNB while responding to a question on Friday.
Alam said authorities are reviewing the circumstances surrounding this incident to ensure accountability and prevent similar obstructions in the future.
The interim government has already established a formal committee to investigate the acts of violence that occurred in Gopalganj on July 16, 2025.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive inquiry and submitting its findings to the Chief Adviser’s Office within two weeks, said the Press Secretary.

"We are confident that this process will ensure accountability and help establish the facts of what happened, to whom, and by whom," Alam said.
Tragically, he mentioned that the families of the four deceased forcibly removed the bodies from Gopalganj General Hospital before post-mortem examinations could be conducted.
As a result, Alam said, standard medical and legal procedures were disrupted, and autopsies could not be carried out immediately.
Another person, who had sustained bullet injuries during clashes involving law enforcers, Awami League members, and banned Chhatra League activists in Gopalganj on Wednesday, died early Friday, raising the death toll from the incident to five.
The deceased was identified as Ramjan Munshi, 32, son of Akbar Munshi of the Thanapara area under Gopalganj Sadar upazila.

Ramjan, a rickshaw-puller, breathed his last around 2:45am while undergoing treatment in Ward No-101 of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the hospital police outpost.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
