A government committee on Tuesday gave approval of a proposal for printing, binding and supplying some 5.54 crore copies of textbooks free of cost for secondary-level students for the 2026 academic year.
The textbooks will be distributed among students of class 9, Dakhil class 9, SSC and Dakhil vocational class 9, as well as technical trade classes 9 and 10, in both Bangla and English versions.
The approval came from the 41st meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase held virtually today, with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
The day’s meeting approved a proposal placed by the Secondary and Higher Education Division involving around Tk 479.82 crore for the printing, binding and supply of 5,54,90,869 copies of textbooks for classes 9 and 10.
