Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has expressed happiness over the formal launch of a waiting lounge dedicated to serving expatriate Bangladeshis and their families.
The lounge will provide several facilities including designated waiting areas, a baby-care room, separate prayer rooms for men and women, and a reasonably priced cafeteria.
Prof Yunus inaugurated the comfortable waiting lounge for expatriate workers and their relatives at the multilevel car parking area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday night after his return from Baku, Azerbaijan where he joined the UN Climate conference COP29.
"I am very happy to inaugurate this waiting lounge," said the Chief Adviser while speaking to the relatives of expatriate Bangladeshis who were present during the opening ceremony.
The lounge has been developed through a collaborative effort between the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
The lounge is located on the first floor of the airport's multi-level car park area, offering a comfortable and spacious environment for travelers.
Prof Yunus sought opinion and suggestions from the relatives of expatriate workers so that this waiting lounge can be made more comfortable for them.
On November 11, Prof Yunus inaugurated a special lounge named "Probashi Lounge" for the country's migrant workers inside the HSIA.
The Probashi Lounge is a first of its kind at the Dhaka airport to offer Bangladeshi migrant workers some space to take rest and get subsidized food.
