Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu on Tuesday said the government has taken all necessary preparations to deal with flood and landslides in different parts of the country.
"We have overall preparedness to deal with the situation. At this moment, there is no major concern," he told reporters the Secretariat in response to questions about floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in different parts of the country.
Referring to the recent landslide in Cox's Bazar that claimed nine lives, he said the district administration was instructed immediately to provide necessary assistance to the victims.
"I personally spoke today with the deputy commissioners of Rangamati, Cox's Bazar and Khagrachhari to review the situation," he said.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has already allocated 200 metric tonnes of rice and Tk 10 lakh each for Cox's Bazar, Chattogram and the three hill districts—Bandarban, Khagrachhari and Rangamati—to support people affected by the disasters, he said.
Dulu also said the government has allocated 100 metric tonnes of rice and Tk 5 lakh for each of the country's remaining districts as part of its disaster preparedness measures.
