âThe government has a plan to open new missions in some countries,â he said.
Momen came up with the remarks while responding to a question from ruling party MP Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury (Sylhet-3) in the House.
As per the plan, the minister said, new Bangladeshi missions will be set up in Guangzhou and Shanghai of China, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Laos and Kazakhstan in Asia while Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Tanzania and Ghana in Africa.
Momen said the new missions will also be opened in Ireland, Scotland, Frankfort of Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary and Ukraine in Europe, while Melbourne of Australia, and New Zealand in Oceania and Argentina, Chili and Sao Paulo of Brazil in South America.
He said Bangladesh has 77 missions in 58 countries out of 193 member states of the United Nations.
The foreign minister said all the administrative processes have already been completed to set up the countryâs missions in Chennai of India and Bucharest of Romania.
