Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement at a meeting, presided over by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, on Wednesday gave an approval to TCB’s procurement proposal.
TCB selected two local suppliers through quotation-based bidding process to buy the product.
City Group will supply 25,000mt sugar at a rate of Tk 61.25 per kg while Supper Oil Refinery and Bashundhara Group will supply the refined soybean oil.
Soybean oil will cost Tk 91.95 per litre while it is contained in two-litre bottles and the price will be Tk 90.95 per litre for the five-litre containers.
Finance Minister Kamal said the government has been taking preparation so that there will be no crisis of any commodity in the market during the upcoming Ramadan which will begin in April.
He said the government is working keeping in mind the global situation after the coronavirus outbreak in China.
“If necessary, TCB will be given procedural waiver to promptly buy products from the market to keep the situation stable. Our main target is to ensure satisfaction of the people in Ramadan,” he said.
The committee also approved six more proposals from different ministries.
Of these, the Sipping Ministry’s proposal to award contract to buy three harbour cranes and accessories at Tk 125.44 crore, 50mt capacity two tyre-mounted multipurpose cranes and accessories at Tk 57.19 crore, and 30mt capacity two mobile harbour cranes and their accessories at Tk 11.88 crore.
Local firm Mason Power Limited will supply the cranes and accessories from Germany.
The committee also approved a proposal on appointing Indian company GSS Info Tech as consultant and local firm Dohatec New Media as sub-consultant for Bangladesh: e-GP System Enhancement, Operation and Maintenance (EOM) project at a cost of Tk 54.95 crore.
