A grill worker was electrocuted while working at a building in the Bhatara area of the capital on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Bari, 24, son of Zakir Hossain of Jurbaria village under Fulbaria upazila in Mymensingh district.
The accident occurred around 4:00 pm at a building in front of the Coca-Cola Dhalibari Kacha Bazar under Bhatara Police Station, where Bari was installing grill wiring.
His co-worker, Abdul Russell, said Bari came into contact with a live electric wire while working, leaving him critically injured.
He was rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 5:45 pm.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at DMCH, said the body had been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
He added that Bhatara Police Station had been informed of the incident.
