Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former ministers Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former local MP Shamim Osman, former Narayanganj city mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, and 207 others were sued in a case over the killing of a shoe factory worker during the last year’s July uprising in Narayanganj.

The victim’s mother Runa Begum on Friday night filed the case with Siddhirganj police station accusing 212 people, with 62 named and 150 to 160 unnamed, said the police station’s Officer-in-Charge Shahinur Alam.

But the matter of filing a case came to light on Monday.

Some of the mentioned accused include Shamim Osman’s son son Imtinan Osman Ayon, nephew Azmeri Osman, former Narayanganj-2 MP Nazrul Islam Babu, Mojibur Rahman, president of Siddhirganj Thana Awami League, and Yasin Haji, general secretary of the same unit.

According to the case statement, 20-year-old Sajal Mia participated in an anti-government movement on July 20 last while a group of armed Awami League members allegedly opened fire on students and civilians in front of a Dutch-Bangla Bank branch on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.

Sajal was shot in the abdomen and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, according to the case statement.

He was buried quickly without an autopsy, fearing further violence and instability, according to it.

Hasina, 11 others sued for treason in Narayanganj

The attack was carried out under direct incitement from top Awami League leaders, and that the shooting took place under the leadership and in the presence of Shamim Osman, his son Ayon, and nephew Azmeri Osman, reads the statement.
