Khaled died at a hospital in the city early on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment for post-Covid complications. He was 80.
Khaled breathed his last around 5.45 am at the intensive care unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), his younger brother Mohammed Khaled said.
He had been undergoing treatment at BSMMU for the past several days after testing positive for Covid-19. But later he had tested negative.
In fact, the former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank had developed multiple health problems after recovering from Covid, said Proshanto Majumdar, the hospital's public relations officer.
His condition had deteriorated further after testing negative for Covid, he said.
