Dhaka, Jan 29 (UNB) – The High Court on Tuesday summoned the chief engineer of Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) to appear before it on February 12 over a contempt of court charge.
The HC bench of Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order for not complying with its earlier order.
Advocate Manzill Murshid stood for the petitioner while Advocate Mantu Kumar Mandal represented LGED.
Manzill Murshid said the High Court on May 8, 2012 asked the LGED chief engineer and Local Government Division secretary to provide promotion to 102 deputy assistant engineers.
The Appellate Division rejected the appeal filed by the LGED against the HC order.
On May 2012, the HC issued a contempt of court rule as the HC order was not implemented.
Later on May 12 and October 16 of 2018, the court asked the authorities concerned to implement the order.
