Rajib lost his right arm after it got stuck between two buses at Bangla Motor on April 4 last year. He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital 11 days later.
Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam’s bench fixed the date for hearing following a writ petition.
Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju represented the state.
The committee formed by the High Court to identify those responsible for the accident and fix compensation, submitted the report with 18-recomendations.
Saju said the report also mentioned that both drivers did not have licence to drive heavy vehicles. The committee held ‘Sajan Paribahan’ driver responsible for the incident and blamed the negligence of Samorita Hospital for Rajib’s death.
The High Court on May 8 last year ordered the owners of ‘Sajan Paribahan’ and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation to pay Tk 50 lakh each (Tk 1 crore in total) to Rajib’s family.
But the order was stayed by the Appellate Division on May 22. The apex court directed the High Court to form an independent committee to fix the compensation and find out who is responsible for the accident.
