There is no specific threat centering Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year's Day, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday.
Besides, security has been strengthened ahead of Pahela Baishakh as this year it will be widely celebrated, he said.
The adviser was talking to reporters after a meeting to review law and order situation held at the Secretariat.
This year, the festival will be celebrated widely and keeping this in mind, security has been increased compared to previous years, he said.
All necessary measures are being taken to ensure that security is not disrupted.
Adequate arrangements have been made to ensure the security of the New Year rally.
Replying to a question, about the police deployment, the advisor said that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs is organising the rally and New Year celebrations. They will determine where and who will be stationed.

Referring to the vandalism carried out in different shops, including Bata on Monday, the adviser said "Ensuring security across the country is my responsibility. Action will be taken against those responsible for these incidents."
“So far, 49 people involved in these incidents have been arrested across the country. We have taken necessary measures to prevent such events in the future, and security arrangements have been strengthened,” he said.
Replying to a question, about how satisfied he is with law and order during the eight months of the interim government, the Adviser said, "As satisfied as you are, I am equally satisfied."
Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said that the decision regarding whether the New Year's rally will be named "Mangal Shobhajatra" will be made by the Dhaka University authorities.
