Hannan, also a freedom fighter, breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka around 12:45pm, said ICT investigation agency senior coordinator Sanaul Huq.
He said Hannan was admitted to the CMH on Thursday as he was diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Referring to the doctors of the CMH, Sanaul said Hannan’s condition worsened badly in the morning and he later suffered a massive cardiac attack and died.

Hannan left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
A former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hannan joined the investigation agency of the ICT in January 2011.
Earlier, he had also investigated the Bangabandhu murder and jail murder cases.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Anisul Huq expressed deep shock at the death of Hannan.
In a condolence message, he said Hannan was a skilled, experienced and courageous personality and a man of principle and ideal.
The minister recalled that Hanan successfully discharged the responsibilities of investigation activities of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case, jail killing case and the crimes against humanity of 1971.
“His death left a huge void in the International Criminal Tribunal's investigative agency,” Anisul added.
He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
