The Islamic Republic of Iran is offering higher education and scholarship opportunities to international students at various Iranian universities, including in medicine, engineering and other disciplines.
Iran Cultural Centre in Dhaka said it in a press release on Monday.
Eligible and meritorious students can apply for undergraduate, master’s, PhD and other higher-level programmes. While opportunities are available in a wide range of subjects, preference will be given to applicants in Persian language and literature, Iranian studies, humanities and Islamic studies. Students applying for master’s and PhD programmes will also receive priority.
Applicants for undergraduate programmes must have secured at least 70 percent marks in their HSC or equivalent examinations. For admission to master’s programmes, applicants need a minimum of 75 percent marks in their undergraduate degrees, while those seeking PhD and professional doctorate programmes must have obtained at least 80 percent marks in their master’s degrees.
There are also age limits for applicants. The maximum age is 22 for undergraduate programmes, 27 for master’s programmes and 22 for medical undergraduate programmes. For specialised doctorate, post-doctoral and fellowship programmes, the maximum age is 36.
Applicants must prepare their latest educational certificates, mark sheets or transcripts and a valid passport with at least six months’ validity. Where required, valid or official English translations of the documents must also be submitted. Certificates and transcripts must bear the appropriate seals and signatures.
For passports, only a clear scanned copy of the first page will be accepted. Unclear or informal photographs taken with mobile phones will not be accepted.
Two types of scholarships are available.
Under Scholarship A, or the full scholarship, students will receive free education, medical services or health insurance, accommodation for single students and tuition fee assistance. Applicants in Persian language and literature are generally given preference for full scholarships.
Scholarship B provides free education, medical services or health insurance, as well as accommodation for undergraduate students.
The entire application process, including verification, required clearances and review by the Admission Working Group, may take at least 40 days. Applicants have therefore been advised to submit their complete application files well ahead of the deadline.
