Islamic University, Sep 24 (UNB) - Islamic University (IU) authorities suspended one of its students for one academic year for allegedly slapping a female student of his own department.
The decision was made at an emergency meeting held at IU administration building with IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, sources at IU registrar office said on Monday morning.
IU acting registrar SM Abul Latif told UNB that the university VC issued the suspension order against Mahmudullah, a master’s student of IU Arabic Language and Literature department.
On September 19 last, Mahmudullah slapped the student on the ground floor of IU Art’s Faculty building for allegedly refusing to accept his love proposal.
Later, the female student submitted a written complaint to the university authorities seeking punishment of the student.
