Several hundred students from different colleges and universities and job seekers brought out a procession in front of the National Museum and put up barricade at Shahbagh intersection around 12:30 pm, halting vehicular movement on roads adjacent to Shahbagh, Farmgate and New Market areas
Harun-Ur-Rashid, joint convener of “Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Parishad” said, “We have been demanding extension of age limit for entry into government jobs for a long time. It is a very logical demand as students generally finish university education at the age of 28.”
“We will continue our demonstrations until the government takes any step to fulfill our demand ”, he added.
Currently, the age limit for entering into public service is 30 years, while the retirement age is 59 years.
