The Jatiya Press Club (JPC) has strongly condemned the attacks on journalists when they were performing their duties during the violence of BNP-Jamaat programmes in Dhaka.
In a statement, the Jatiya Press Club’s President Farida Yasmin and General Secretary Shyamal Dutta condemned the attacks on at least 30 journalists.

The leaders said the miscreants not only attacked the journalists but also vandalised the vehicles and cameras of them and snatched their mobile phones.
They also demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the attackers and compensation for the victims.
The JPC leaders also urged the authorities concerned to assist the journalists when they discharge their professional duties.

According to media reports, several journalists were injured and their vehicles were burnt while performing professional duties at the political rallies.
Some of the journalists were critically injured and hospitalised.
