Parliament on Wednesday unanimously adopted a condolence motion expressing profound grief at the demise of two sitting MPs Abdul Matin Khasru (Cumilla-5) and Aslamul Haque (Dhaka-14), a former minister, an ex-MP and some noted personalities.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion in the House at the beginning of the 13th session (Budget Session) of the 11th Parliament.
As per the tradition, the day's business was adjourned after the adoptation of the condolence over the death of sitting Awami League MPs Abdul Matin Khasru and Aslamul Haque in order to pay respect to them.
Abdul Matin Khasru died on April 14 last, while Aslamul Haque died on April 04 last.

Besides, the House expressed deep shock at the death of former minister Mahbubur Rahman (Noakhali-3) and 11 ex-MPs Sarah Begum Kabari (Narayanganj-4), Meraj Uddin Mollah (Rajshahi-3), Gazi MM Amjad Hossain (Sirajganj-3), Khandakar Abdul Malek Shahidullah (former Ganoparishad member, 1970), Abul Hashem (former Ganoparishad member, 1970), Mohammad Yunus (Cumilla-5), Ziaur Rahman Khan (Dhaka-13), Abdul Bari Sardar (Pabna-4), Dildar Hossain Selim (Sylhet-4), Abdur Rauf Khan (Manikganj-2) and Farida Rahman (9th Parliament, Women Seat-17).
The Parliament also expressed deep shock at the death of noted dignitaries including Director General of Bangladesh Academy Habibullah Sirajee, those who lost lives being affected by coronavirus in home and abroad, and those who lost lives in recent launch accident at Shitalakkhya River in Narayanganj, Speedboat accident at a place adjoining to Kathalbari Ferryghat in Shibchar of Madaripur, in the recent Israel's attack on premise of Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and the cyclone Yaas.
A one-minute silence was observed and state minister for religious affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan conducted a munajat seeking eternal peace to the departed souls.

Before passing the condolence motion, Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a number of MPs took part in discussion over the motion.
