Parliament will hold two sittings a day – morning and afternoon – from Tuesday to expedite the passage of 133 ordinances within the April 9 deadline, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni said on Monday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, he said, adding that sittings may also be held on Friday if required to complete the process on time.
Moni said all 133 ordinances must be passed within the stipulated deadline.
He also expressed regret that copies of all the bills could not be circulated in advance due to time constraints.
The Chief Whip said the bills that received unanimous approval in the special parliamentary committee should be passed immediately, while those with notes of dissent or proposed amendments will be presented separately.
Efforts are underway to place those bills before Parliament by tomorrow, he added.
