Jubo league leader Khalid remanded again

Dhaka, Sept 27 (UNB) - A court here on Friday again remanded Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, organising secretary of Jubo League’s Dhaka south city unit, in two separate cases after the end of a seven-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didarul Alam put him on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Arms Act. He was placed in another five-day remand in a case under the Narcotics Control Act.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) produced Khalid before the court and sought 20 days to interrogate him in two cases.

The Jubo League leader was put on seven-day remand by two separate courts on Sep 19.

Khalid, also president of Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club, was arrested from Gulshan on Sep 18 by Rab for running an illegal casino in the club.

Three firearms – one of them illegal – along with bullets, and Yaba pills were seized from him.

The arrest came after a Rab mobile court detained 142 people from the casino and seized Tk 24 lakh in cash, foreign liquor and casino boards.
