Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) organised a day-long job fair and career summit on Friday to connect students with corporate employers and create employment opportunities for them.

‘JUCSU Job Fair and Career Summit 2026’ held at the university’s Central Sports Ground, with more than 25 leading corporate organisations taking part. The participating companies offered over 700 job opportunities, organisers said.

JU Vice Chancellor and JUCSU  President Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan inaugurated the fair.

Speaking at the opening, Prof Ahsan said such initiatives would help students gain practical interview experience and build confidence while interacting directly with potential employers.

“Getting the opportunity to interact with representatives of around 25 organisations at the same time is a valuable experience for students,” he said.

He also said the fair would help narrow the gap between academia and industry and strengthen ties between the university and recruiting organisations.

According to JUCSU, BRAC-operated Career Hub is the principal sponsor of the fair.

New Zealand Dairy and Everest Pharmaceuticals are platinum sponsors, while English Therapy, Akij Healthcare and Hygiene Ltd, Theraprime Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd and Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC are gold sponsors.

The Acme Laboratories Ltd, Spark Ride Technology Ltd and Hamdard Laboratories Waqf Bangladesh are supporting the event as silver sponsors.

Participating organisations include Abul Khair Group, RFL Group, Ifad Group, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, IIDFC Securities Ltd, e-Learning and Earning Ltd, Data Solution 360 Ltd and Rhythm Blood Centre, among others.

JUCSU Joint General Secretary Ferdous Al Hasan said the organisers designed the fair to introduce students from first year to master’s level, as well as recent graduates, to the corporate sector.

“Students are getting the opportunity to speak directly with human resources representatives of participating organisations, learn about available jobs and submit their CVs,” he added.

JUCSU General Secretary Md Mazharul Islam said the students’ union had continued its welfare activities even during the final stage of its tenure.

“Today’s job fair and career summit is an important reflection of that commitment. The event will help students communicate directly with employers, gain interview experience and explore employment opportunities,” he said.

He said the union would consider the initiative a major achievement if it could bring a positive change to the career of any participating student.

Rubina Jahan Tithi, executive of sales and marketing at Theraprime Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd, said job fairs provide employers with an opportunity to review candidates’ CVs and recruit people based on their qualifications and skills.

She said such events are particularly useful for young people preparing to enter the job market, as they allow candidates to learn about recruitment criteria and the skills employers expect.

Organisers said they would hold a session titled ‘Road to Corporate Career’ at the university’s Senate Building at 7pm after the main job fair activities.

Experienced corporate professionals will discuss career planning, corporate culture, CV preparation, interview skills and professional development with students at the session.
