Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has secured the second champion title in the university category at the three-day national-level ‘Bangladesh Innovation Fair-2026’, held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre in the capital from Sept 12 to 14.

JUST received the prestigious recognition for its outstanding performance in innovative research, modern technology and practical applications.

Held under the theme ‘Innovate to Market’, the fair brought together more than 73 public and private universities and hundreds of researchers and innovators from across the country.

JUST showcased several research-based innovations in environmental science, agricultural technology, microbiology and chemical engineering.

Among the innovations displayed by the university, the ‘Nano Urea’ research project led by Prof Dr Md Zaved Hossain Khan of the Department of Chemical Engineering drew the most attention.

Researchers praised the potential and effectiveness of nano urea as an alternative to conventional urea, particularly in reducing farmers’ production costs and the country’s dependence on imports.

Expressing delight over the achievement, JUST Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Yearul Kabir said, “This achievement is a unique milestone in the university’s journey of research and innovation. This good news at the national level has come as a result of the relentless efforts of our teachers and students and world-class research.”

He said such recognition would further inspire the university to strengthen the bridge between academic research and the industrial sector.

JUST Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Prof Sk. Mahmudul Hasan said, “Ensuring high standards in education and research is our main goal. Such a remarkable achievement by JUST at the national fair proves that our young researchers are capable of meeting the country’s future technological needs.”

He said the achievement would take JUST another step forward in its efforts to establish itself as one of the country’s leading research centres.

He also thanked all researchers, teachers, students, officials and employees of the university for their contributions to the success.

JUST Treasurer Prof Dr Md Faruq Hasan said institutionalising university research requires financial and structural support.

“The university administration will continue to provide all necessary financial and technological support to further advance the innovative potential of our teachers and students,” he said.

He said the achievement had made the entire university family proud, adding, “This success belongs to the JUST family. This success belongs to everyone.”

At the closing and award ceremony of Bangladesh Innovation Fair-2026, Science and Technology Ministry Secretary Md Anwar Hossain chaired the event.

Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser for Economic and Planning Affairs to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

The invited guests handed over the championship trophy and certificate of recognition to the JUST delegation at the closing and award ceremony.

The university authorities congratulated all teachers, students and researchers who participated in the fair and contributed to the achievement.
