British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson has expressed deep shock at the death of former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran.
"Saddened to hear of the death of Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, former Mayor of Sylhet," he tweeted.
The High Commissioner termed Kamran a good friend of the UK, always promoting strong people-to-people ties with Bangladesh.
"My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time," Dickson said.
Kamran breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. He was 69.

Kamran, a member of the central executive committee of Awami League, was flown to CMH from Sylhet on June 7 when his physical condition deteriorated after testing positive for coronavirus on June 5.
