He, however, said the High Court gave a legal decision disposing of Khaleda’s bail petition in Zia Charitable trust case after deeply looking into the matter of the BNP chief.
The minister came up with the remarks at a press conference on Khaleda’s bail petition at his Gulshan residential office.
He said the BSMMU can provide the BNP chairperson with the advance treatment, but they could not do that as she did not give permission. “The court said they’ve nothing to do with the matter as she denied permission (for the treatment). That’s why the petition has been rejected.”
He said the BSMMU doctors categorically said they could not initiate the necessary treatment for Khaleda as they were not getting her permission.
“If a person is seriously ill, it’s quite natural for her/him to give permission for treatment. We think not giving permission is an unusual matter from her (Khaleda’s) side,” the minister observed.
As his attention was drawn to BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi’s remark that the government’s vindictive policy has exposed through the rejection of Khaleda’s bail petition, Anisul said BNP has been making many illogical demands and remarks. “I don’t think I need to answer to those things.”
Earlier in the day, a High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq turned down the bail petition filed by Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
In its observation, the court said it is possible for the board to provide treatment to Khaleda Zia. “If she wants, the medical board will start the treatment anytime soon. If it’s required, the number of the seven-member board could be increased,” the court added.
The bench read out the health report of the former prime minister in the morning after Supreme Court Registrar General placed the medical report before the bench submitted by the authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) a day back.
According to the report, Khaleda has been suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and arthritis but these are under control. Now she is suffering from back pain but Khaleda did not allow medical board to provide advanced treatment.
