A launch trader was shot by unidentified assailants in the capital’s South Badda area on Thursday night.
Ujjal Bhuiyan, 47, son of Abdul Sattar, is a resident of the Darogabari Mor area of South Badda.
Victim’s brother Juboraj said Ujjal returned home around 11:00pm, holding the right side of his chest and bleeding from a gunshot wound.
He told his family that he was shot in the Darogabari Mor area but could not say who shot him or why, Juboraj said.
Ujjal was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he was admitted.
Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said Ujjal was brought to the hospital’s emergency department from Badda with a gunshot injury and was later admitted.
He said Badda Police Station was informed of the incident.
