In Habiganj, a minor and a teenager boy were killed and two others were injured by lightning strike while fishing at Nowai village of Bhaubal upazila.
The deceased were identified as Orkaid, 11, son of Dorod Mia of the village and Noros Uddin, 17, son of Abdus Salam of Manika Village.
Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge, Bahubal Model Police Station, said a thunderbolt hit Orkaid, Junaid and Usman while they were fishing in a wetland, leaving Orkaid dead on the spot and the two others injured.
Meanwhile, Noros was killed in another lightning strike at Zaria wetland area while fishing at around 9pm.
In Chapainawabganj, separate lightning strikes killed two, including a woman, in Sadar and Shibganj upazilas.
The deceased are- Shahidul Islam, 25, son of Golam Mostafa of Sadar upazila and Papia Begum, 35, wife of Hares Uddin of Shibganj upazila.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Alamgir Hossain said Shahidul was struck by thunderbolt in the afternoon while returning from field and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, Papia was injured by lightning strike, and died while being taken to hospital in Shibganj upazila, locals said.
According to Save the Society and Thunderstorm Awareness Forum, the reason behind the increase of lightning strikes are- climate change, decreasing number of tall trees, installation of a large number of mobile phone towers, and global warming.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests to stay away from concrete floors or walls as lightning can travel through any metal wires or bars in concrete walls or flooring.
