Four people, including a woman, were killed in separate lightning strikes in Kalapara and Rangabali upazilas of Patuakhali on Wednesday.
The incidents occurred at different times of the day, police said.
In addition, at least 50 cattle heads have been killed after being struck by thunderstorm in different areas of the district over the past two days, according to locals.
At least 9 killed in lightning strikes across multiple districts
Zahir Uddin, 28, was killed while working in a cornfield in Tarikata village of Kalapara upazila around 1:00pm.
Setara Begum, 55, of Purba Chakamaiya village in the same upazila, died after being struck by lightning while going to feed her cows around 2:00pm.
Khalek Hawlader, 55, of Shantipur village in upazila, was also killed around the same time while returning home from a field with his cattle.
Earlier, around 9am, Sourav Majumdar, 22, was killed after being struck by thunderstorm while tying a cow in a field in Charganga village of Rangabali upazila.
Nazrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalapara Police Station, said they were collecting details from the victims’ families.
