The deceased, hailing from Krishnapur union in Sadar upazila, was taken to Sadar hospital on Thursday with respiratory problem and then shifted to the isolation ward of the hospital, said Dr Lutfur Rahman, health and family planning officer of the hospital.
Later, the hospital authorities took his samples and sent to lab for test.
As the condition of the patient deteriorated, the hospital authorities referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday night where he breathed his last early Saturday.
Iqbal Hossain, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), said the house of the victim and his neighbours were put under lockdown.
A total of 68 people have so far found diagnosed with coronavirus in the district while 22 people recovered from the disease.
