A Faridpur court on Thursday sentenced a man to life in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl in Boalmari upazila in 2011.
The man is Milon Khan, 32, a resident of Doivakanandanpur village of Shekhar Union in the upazila.

Judge of the Faridpur Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Hafizur Rahman also fined him Tk 50,000, in default of which he will have to serve one more year in prison.
Later, Milon Khan was taken to the district jail, said Swapan Pal, public prosecutor (PP) at the tribunal.
According to the case statement, Milon gave a marriage proposal to the girl. When the girl’s family refused the marriage proposal as she was a minor, Milon threatened to kidnap the girl. On the evening of October 2, 2011, when the girl went to collect water from the pond, Milon took the girl to an isolated place and raped her.

On October 30, a case was filed at Boalmari police station following a complaint lodged by the victim's father under Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act against four people including Milon.
Sub-Inspector Atiar Rahman , the investigating officer of the case , submitted a chargesheet to the court on December 31, 2011.
