On January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu triumphantly returned to a liberated and sovereign Bangladesh after over nine and a half months of captivity in a Pakistani jail.
For this purpose, the Cabinet Economic Affairs Committee on Wednesday approved a proposal to appoint one or more event management firms through direct procurement method (DPM).
As per a proposal approved by the committee, about Tk 84.57 crore remained allocated under the project —Support to Sustainable Graduation—while the celebration programmes are set to be held centrally in Dhaka and also in 495 upazila across the country at once.
The individual components of the programme include rallies, TV shows, video displays, fireworks and also exhibition of life-based photography of Bangabandhu.
The locals, people’s representatives, administration, students, social and cultural personalities and youth segments will all be brought into the fold for the programme.
While briefing reporters about the proceedings of the meeting, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, who presided over the meeting, said all the ministries will be involved in the programme.
