Two more children died with measles-like symptoms in Sylhet division in the 24 hours until Wednesday morning, raising the tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 118 in the region.
The deceased were identified as 11-month-old Abhinandan Das of Sylhet Sadar upazila and 18-month-old Jannat of Chhatak upazila in Sunamganj district. Both died while undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The Sylhet Divisional Office of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in the morning.
During the same period, 27 new confirmed measles cases were detected across the division, while 119 patients with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals.
Of the new patients, 54 were admitted to Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital and 51 to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
More than 300 measles patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals across Sylhet division, according to the DGHS.
