Chapainawabganj, Aug 10 (UNB) – A female NGO worker was found dead and her minor cousin injured in a sugarcane field of Laughatabil in Shibganj upazila on Friday, a day after they went missing.
Police recovered the body of Khatiza Khatun, 26, a worker of local NGO ‘Atmaobiswas’ and daughter of Alauddin Ali, in the afternoon.
Sikder Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station, said locals spotted the body of the NGO worker in a drain of the sugarcane field around 11am and her cousin Tabassum, 4, groaning by the body and informed police.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the body around 1pm and rescued the injured girl.
Iqbal Hossain, additional superintendent of police (Sadar circle), said Khatiza and her cousin went missing on Thursday noon. The body bore injury marks in the head.
