Two twin brothers were rescued from Gazipur three days after they went missing from Sirajganj, police said, adding that they had left home to avoid continuing their studies at a madrasah.
The boys – Russell and Rashedul, both 11 – are sons of Nazrul Islam of Dhitpur village in Shahjadpur upazila.
Inspector (Investigation) of Belkuchi Police Station Zahurul Haque said the siblings started by boat for Boura Barek Maulana Qawmi Madrasah in Belkuchi upazila where they used to study.
However, they neither reached the madrasah nor returned home, he said, prompting their father to file a general diary on Tuesday afternoon.
Following the missing complaint, police launched an investigation.
Using information technology, they traced the boys to a hotel in the Chandra Mor area under Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur, where they had taken up work.
They were rescued on Wednesday afternoon and later handed over to their family, the police officer said.
He said the brothers were unwilling to continue their studies at the madrasah. They changed their traditional Panjabi attire, wore shirts and travelled by bus to Gazipur.
