Nilphamari, Sept 16 (UNB) – A woman and her minor daughter were killed when a train hit a van on an unauthorised level crossing at Belaichandi in Syedpur upazila on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Mariam, 25 and Jotsna, 8.
Lutfur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Syedpur Police Station, said the accident took place around 6:45 am when the Rajshahi-bound ‘Barendra Express’ train hit the van carrying the duo while it was passing the unauthorised level crossing, leaving them dead on the spot.
The van driver managed to flee.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
