A motorcyclist was killed and another rider seriously injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Manikganj-Hemayetpur regional road in Manikganj on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred in the Kitingchar area of the road.
The deceased was identified as Md Kawsar Ahmed, 18, son of Md Shahidul Islam Momen of Athalia area in Singair upazila.
They chose a cheaper ride, but never made it home
According to police and locals, the accident took place when a Singair-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw from Hemayetpur collided head-on with a Hemayetpur-bound motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
Another motorcycle rider, Md Arafat, 18, son of Md Kohinur Biswas of the same area, sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Locals rescued him and sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Singair Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mazharul Islam, said the body was recovered and sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Legal action in this regard is underway, the OC added.
