A murder case has been filed against 28 individuals, including Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, chairman of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation and former lawmaker from Chittagong-2 constituency, former Superintendent of Police, OC of Hathazari Police Station over the death of a madrasa student in Chattogram's Hathazari in 2021.
Abdul Jabbar, father of the victim Rafiqul Islam, filed the case at Hathazari Police Station as the plaintiff on Friday.
Former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chittagong district SM Rashidul Haque, former OC of Hathazari Police Station Md Rafiqul Islam, former leader of Hefazat-e-Islam Moin Uddin Ruhi have also been made accused in the case.
Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hathazari police station, said the names of 28 people have been mentioned in the case.
Apart from this, another 150 unidentified people have been accused.
According to the case statement, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Dhaka on March 26, 2021 to attend the golden jubilee ceremony of Bangladesh's independence.
In protest of his arrival, Hefazat activists and madrasa students took out a procession from Al Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam-Hathazari, Chattogram, like the rest of the country.
Rafiqul Islam and four other students were shot dead during the procession.
This is the first case filed by the victim's family in this incident.
