Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder on Wednesday said the country’s future will depend on people voting ‘Yes’ in the upcoming referendum, stressing the importance of public participation in shaping the nation’s direction.
“You are the owners of the country. It depends on you who will run the country,” he said as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organised at the Collectorate in Kushtia to promote the referendum and motivate voters. The adviser urged everyone to vote ‘Yes’ in the referendum.
He added, “Candidates will come to you seeking your vote; it is your right to choose. The concerned officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police under the Election Commission, will ensure that no one can curtail your right. You will cast your vote for the mark you like, and no one can obstruct you.”
The adviser also highlighted the contributions of those who sacrificed themselves during the July Uprising.
He said the dream of running the country in a new way, beyond conventional paths, was the aspiration of the July warriors. “In that spirit, the July National Charter 2025 has been formulated by coordinating proposals from various reform commissions with the aim of changing the existing political culture. All political parties have signed this charter,” he added.
Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Md Iqbal Hossain presided over the meeting, while District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasim Uddin, District Information Officer, and District Election Officer also addressed the gathering.
