Newly appointed Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Commissioners Dr Jahangir Alam Khan and Dr Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan took charge on Wednesday.
On August 17, the government appointed Justice Asaduzzaman, a retired judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, as ACC chairman and former Secretary Dr Jahangir and former Financial Reporting Council (FRC) Chairman Dr Sajjad as commissioners.
Justice Asaduzzaman retired from the Appellate Division in February this year. Before his elevation to the Appellate Division, he served as a judge in the High Court Division for a long period.
Commissioner Jahangir was a member of the 1985 batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre. Before joining the ACC, he was a Professor of Law at Independent University, Bangladesh, and served as a legal expert on various projects under the Ministry of Law.
The other commissioner, Sajjad, is also a former member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
He has expertise in finance, trade, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, asset and liability valuation, transfer pricing, money laundering, revenue management and financial reporting.
