Newly appointed Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Sa Ching Prue Jerry on Saturday paid homage to former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia by placing floral wreaths at their graves.
Jerry paid tribute at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital around noon.
Leaders and activists of Bandarban district BNP and its affiliated organisations were present with the minister at the time.
The cabinet underwent its first reshuffle on Friday, Aug 21, after six months of the government being formed. The reshuffle involved changes in ministerial portfolios as well as the appointment of new ministers and state ministers.
Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, M Rashiduzzaman Millat, Sa Ching Prue Jerry and Barrister Andaleeve Rahman were sworn in as new ministers.
Following the ministers’ swearing-in, Humaiun Kobir and Shamim Kaiser took oath as state ministers.
Later that night, a gazette notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani announced the allocation and reallocation of portfolios among the ministers and state ministers.
