The body of a newborn was found stuffed in a bag by a road in Gangachhara upazila on Wednesday morning.
Officer–in–charge of Gangachhara Model Police Station Shusanta Kumar Sarkar said locals spotted the abandoned body by the road at Changmari and informed police.
Later, a team of police went there and recovered the body, he said, adding that the newborn might have been killed soon after the birth and the body was dumped by the road some time on Tuesday night.
The body was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy and a case was filed in this connection.
